Why coverage out here is so thin

It is not that families in Monroe County need less help. It is the math. An agency built around four-hour visits needs its caregivers to hit three or four houses a day, and out here the houses are twenty minutes apart. Past Bartonsville the model simply stops working, so agencies stop answering.

We do it differently, and it is not charity — it is arithmetic. We take cases of twenty hours a week and up and assign one caregiver to one family. One house, one drive, a real day's work. What we do
